The Pyramid's Golden Wish
Lily loved running through Golden Gate Park, her sneakers pounding the dirt path like a drumbeat. She ran every day after school, her curly ponytail bouncing behind her. But today, something sparkled in the bushes—a perfect golden pyramid no bigger than her hand.
Inside the tiny pyramid swam the most beautiful goldfish she'd ever seen, its scales shimmering like liquid sunshine. "I'm Finn," the fish bubbled, and Lily gasped because fish don't talk—except this one did!
"I've been trapped for three hundred years," Finn said sadly. "An ancient pharaoh cursed me when I wouldn't grant his selfish wish. But you... you have a kind heart."
Lily's eyes widened. "What wish did he want?"
"Power. But magic only works for good hearts."
The pyramid began to glow warm and bright. "One wish," Finn whispered. "What does your heart truly desire?"
Lily thought about all the things kids usually want—toys, fame, endless candy. But then she remembered how her grandmother couldn't walk anymore, how she missed running through the park together.
"I wish my grandma could run with me again," Lily said without hesitating.
The golden pyramid blazed like captured sunshine, swirling around them both. When the light faded, Finn was gone, but a warmth filled Lily's heart.
The next morning, Lily's grandma met her at the park, smiling in sneakers she hadn't worn in years. They ran together, laughing as the sun painted the sky gold.
Sometimes Lily still visits that bush, hoping to see Finn. But she knows the real magic wasn't the wish—it was giving something precious away. Because sometimes, she tells her grandma, the best adventures come when we choose kindness over getting what we want.
And somewhere, in a magical stream, a golden fish swims free, still watching over the girl who taught him that hearts are stronger than pyramids.
