The Pyramid of Wishes
Lily's pet goldfish, Finnegan, wasn't ordinary. Every night at midnight, he would swim to the left side of his bowl, then to the right, then swim in tiny circles that sparkled like stardust.
One magical Tuesday, Finnegan swam right up to the glass and spoke! "Lily, tonight is special. The Great Pyramid in the sky opens only once every hundred years, and we've been invited!"
Lily's dog, Barnaby, trotted into the room, his golden fur shimmering. "I heard something about an adventure?" he asked, wagging his tail so hard it became a blur.
"The Pyramid of Wishes!" Finnegan explained. "Legend says a bear guards it — the gentlest, most ancient bear who ever lived. He grants one wish to those who are brave enough to climb the pyramid's crystal steps."
Lily's eyes grew wide. "What would we wish for?"
Barnaby thought for a moment. "More treats?"
Finnigan laughed, a sound like tiny bubbles popping. "Something better! The pyramid holds the Wish of Friendship — it makes friendships stronger than diamond and sweeter than honey."
Suddenly, moonlight poured through Lily's window, forming a swirling staircase that led right up to the clouds. Hand in paw, they climbed — Lily in her fuzzy pajamas, Barnaby trotting proudly beside her, and Finnegan swimming through the air in a magical bubble of water.
At the top stood the pyramid, glowing soft purple. The ancient bear waited there, his fur silver as moonlight, his eyes warm as summer sunshine.
"Welcome, young friends," the bear rumbled softly. "You've discovered something wonderful already — true friendship. That's the rarest magic of all."
Lily realized he was right. She looked at Finnegan, swimming happily in his bubble, and Barnaby, who was trying to catch moonbeams in his mouth. They were already magical together.
"We don't need a wish," Lily said. "We have each other."
The bear smiled. "That," he said, "is why you deserve the Wish of Friendship anyway." He touched each of them with his paw — a warm, tingling feeling like sunshine.
When they woke up the next morning, back in Lily's room, everything seemed brighter. Finnegan's bowl sparkled more than ever. Barnaby's fur was softer than clouds. And Lily knew, deep in her heart, that their friendship would last forever, stronger than diamonds and sweeter than honey.
Some wishes really do come true — especially when shared with friends.
