The Pyramid of Wishes
Lily loved running through the meadow behind her house. Every morning, she'd race the sun as it peeked over the hills, her feet pattering against the dewy grass like soft rain.
One day, while running farther than usual, she spotted something strange—a golden pyramid shimmering beside a small pond she'd never noticed before. It wasn't huge, just the size of a garden shed, but it glowed with warm light.
"Hello?" Lily called out.
A boy's head popped up from behind the pyramid. "You found it!"
Lily jumped. "Who are you?"
"I'm Oliver," the boy said, grinning. "And this is the Wish Pyramid. But there's a catch—you have to swim through its magic pool to make a wish come true."
Lily looked at the pond. "But I don't know how to swim well."
Oliver's smile faded. "Me neither. I've been trying for days, but I'm too scared."
Lily thought about her little brother, who had been sick for weeks. The doctors said he'd get better, but she wished she could help him feel happy now.
"Maybe we can help each other," Lily said. "We can hold hands and practice together."
For the next week, Lily and Oliver met every day. At first, they just splashed in the shallow water. Then they practiced kicking their legs. Oliver showed Lily how to float like a starfish, and Lily taught Oliver how to blow bubbles underwater.
Finally, they felt ready. Hand in hand, they swam across the pond. As they touched the far bank where the pyramid stood, golden light swirled around them.
Lily closed her eyes and wished for her brother to smile again.
When she opened her eyes, Oliver was grinning. "I wished for a best friend," he said. "I think the pyramid granted both our wishes."
Lily smiled too. She knew her brother would feel better soon, and she had found something even better—a friend who had helped her be brave enough to try something new.
Sometimes, the real magic wasn't in wishes at all. It was in the courage to try, and the friends who help you along the way.
From then on, Lily and Oliver practiced swimming together every day, running to their secret spot where the golden pyramid stood—a reminder that some treasures are worth working for, especially when you have a friend by your side.
