The Pyramid of True Friends

The crystal pyramid sat in Lily's garden, catching sunlight like a fallen star. Her golden dog, Buster, had discovered it first, wagging his tail excitedly.

"Mateo! You have to see this!" Lily called out.

Her best friend came running from next door, his eyes widening as the pyramid pulsed with gentle warmth. Together, they touched its smooth surface. In a flash of rainbow light, they were transported inside a magical realm.

Tiny creatures shuffled toward them — little mushroom people with painted-on smiles and wobbly walks.

"They look like friendly zombies!" Mateo giggled.

The creatures bumbled happily, offering glowing berries and singing welcome songs in squeaky voices.

A magnificent bear appeared from behind a crystal tree. Her fur shimmered like starlight, and she wore a crown of autumn leaves. "Welcome, young friends. I am Guardian Aurora of this realm."

The bear explained that these 'zombie' sprites had been transformed by magic to appear funny and approachable, teaching others not to fear differences. "True friends look with their hearts, not just their eyes."

Buster bounded forward, tail thumping, as the mushroom creatures surrounded him with gentle pats. Lily and Mateo joined in, laughing as they realized the best magic wasn't in the pyramid at all — it was in friendship that sees beyond appearances.

As they touched the pyramid to return home, Guardian Aurora gave them each a glowing berry. "Remember this lesson whenever you meet someone new."

Back in the garden, the pyramid faded into sparkles. But the warmth remained as Lily, Mateo, and Buster sat together watching fireflies dance, knowing the greatest adventures are those shared with friends who see with their hearts.
