The Pyramid of Stars

swimmingpyramidfriend

Lila loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every summer day, she would dive into the cool blue lake behind her house, pretending she was a mermaid exploring an underwater kingdom. She would swim deep, deep down until her fingers touched the soft sand at the bottom.

One sunny afternoon, while Lila was swimming, she noticed something strange shimmering in the water. It was a golden pyramid, glowing softly like a captured sunset. Unlike the pyramids she had seen in books, this one was small — no bigger than her hand — and it pulsed with an inviting light.

As Lila reached for it, the pyramid suddenly grew bigger! And bigger! Until it was as tall as her house, rising from the water like a magical castle. Inside the glowing pyramid, she saw something amazing — another girl about her age, waving excitedly.

"Hello!" called the girl. "I'm Cleo! I've been waiting for a friend to find me for three thousand years!"

Lila swam inside the pyramid, which was dry and warm despite being in the middle of the lake. The walls were covered in pictures of stars and galaxies, and the floor sparkled like diamonds.

"I'm the guardian of the Star Pyramid," Cleo explained. "Long ago, I made a wish for a true friend, and the pyramid granted it — but only if someone pure of heart found it while swimming under their own power. That's you!"

The two girls spent the afternoon playing magical games inside the pyramid. They made pictures appear on the walls just by thinking of them, and they ate floating grapes that tasted like sunshine. Cleo showed Lila how to see whole galaxies through small windows in the pyramid walls.

"Why me?" Lila asked. "Why did the pyramid choose me?"

Cleo smiled. "Because true friendship isn't about magic — it's about kindness. The pyramid knew you would share this wonder with others."

As evening came, Cleo taught Lila an important lesson. "The greatest magic is sharing happiness. Whenever you make a new friend, just think of the pyramid, and we'll be connected."

When Lila swam back to shore, the pyramid shrank back to its tiny size and settled into her pocket. Now, whenever she goes swimming with friends, she thinks of Cleo and smiles — knowing that the best adventures are the ones we share, and that true friendship is the most magical treasure of all.
