The Pyramid of Starlight Waters
Luna was a small orange cat who loved to dream. Barnaby was a clumsy brown dog who loved to explore. Every afternoon, they met under the old oak tree at the edge of Mrs. Higgins' garden. But today was different.
"Look!" barked Barnaby, his tail wagging so hard his whole body wiggled. "The ground is glowing!"
Luna's green eyes went wide. Where the garden shed used to be, something shimmered like golden honey in the sun. As they crept closer, Luna's fur stood up with excitement. It wasn't a shed anymore—it was a pyramid made of crystal light, sparkling with colors that changed every time she blinked.
"Should we go inside?" Luna whispered, her voice tiny.
Barnaby nosed her paw. "Together?"
"Together," Luna agreed.
The moment they stepped inside, the pyramid walls began to swirl with pictures. Stars dancing. Moons singing. And something else—water, but not ordinary water. It glowed blue and silver, floating in the middle of the crystal room like a giant bubble.
"Swimming!" Luna gasped. She had always wanted to swim, but cats weren't supposed to like water. Yet here, the water called to her, sparkling with tiny stars that twinkled like captured fireflies.
Barnaby, who loved splashing in puddles, didn't wait. He jumped right in—and instead of sinking, he began to float! The water held him gently, cradling him like a cloud. "Luna! You have to try this! It's like flying!"
Luna dipped one paw in. Warm. Tingly. Like sunshine wrapped around her. Carefully, carefully, she stepped onto the star-water. And she didn't sink. She floated too!
They swam through the magical pool, chasing stars that darted like minnows and laughing when silver bubbles popped against their noses. For hours, they played, the cat and the dog who weren't supposed to be friends, doing what neither was supposed to do.
When the sun began to set, the pyramid started to fade. "Thank you," Luna whispered as the crystal walls dissolved into sparkles.
Back under their oak tree, Luna curled up beside Barnaby. Some cats might say swimming was wrong. Some dogs might say cats couldn't be friends. But Luna and Barnaby knew better.
The best adventures, they decided, were the ones you found together—even when nobody else believed they were possible.
