The Pyramid of Midnight Friends
Leo loved climbing the old hill behind his house. On top stood a small stone pyramid, ancient and mysterious. His grandmother said it was built by magical creatures long ago.
One full moon night, Leo saw something glowing near the pyramid. He crept closer in his pajamas, heart thumping with excitement.
There stood a magnificent bull with a coat like starlight and horns that shimmered like moonbeams. The bull spoke in a voice like gentle thunder.
"Young Leo, will you help me?"
"Who are you?" Leo asked, amazed.
"I am Orion's Bull, guardian of dreams. Inside the pyramid, my friend is trapped. He's been sleeping for a thousand years and cannot wake up. People call him zombie, but he's just lonely and forgotten."
Leo's eyes widened. "You mean a real zombie? Like in stories?"
The bull nodded. "But he's friendly. He was once a prince who loved to play and laugh. An evil wizard cast a sleeping spell on him. Now he walks in his sleep, looking for friends."
Leo felt brave. "What must I do?"
"Enter the pyramid with me, and give him the gift of friendship. That breaks any spell."
Leo climbed onto the bull's back, and they trotted toward the stone pyramid. The entrance opened like a giant eye.
Inside, golden torches lit up automatically. In the center, a boy in royal robes shuffled slowly, arms stretched out, eyes closed. He looked sad and lost.
Leo wasn't scared. He slid down from the bull and approached the sleepwalking boy.
"Hello?" Leo said softly. "I'm Leo. Want to play?"
The zombie boy stopped. His eyelids fluttered open, revealing confused brown eyes.
"Play?" he whispered, his voice rusty from disuse. "I... I remember playing. In the gardens... with my sister..."
Tears rolled down his cheeks as he woke fully. "I've been so lonely. Everyone ran away when they saw me."
"Not me," Leo said, taking his hand. "I'm your friend now. Let's go outside and play tag!"
The bull lowered his head proudly. "Thank you, Leo. Friendship is the strongest magic."
Running out of the pyramid under the moon, the new friends played until dawn. The zombie prince—whose name was Kael—smiled for the first time in a thousand years.
Leo learned that day that things that seem scary might just be lonely. Kindness and friendship can break any spell, even ancient ones.
Now every full moon, Leo, Kael, and Orion's Bull still play together on the hill. And the stone pyramid? It glows golden, celebrating the power of friendship.
