The Pyramid of Lost Things

Lily brushed her curly brown hair out of her eyes and stared at the strange glowing object in her backyard. It was shaped like a pyramid, but it sparkled with colors she'd never seen before—not red, not blue, but colors that seemed to be brand new to the world.

"What are you?" she whispered.

The pyramid hummed and a small door appeared. Lily stepped inside and gasped. It was bigger on the inside than the outside! Walls lined with shelves reached up, up, UP toward a ceiling that twinkled like stars. And on every shelf sat something lost—buttons, toys, homework papers, even a few missing pets sleeping peacefully.

"Welcome," said a tiny creature with silver skin and enormous eyes. "I'm Pim. We collect what children lose."

"But why?" Lily asked.

"So we can return them!" Pim grinned. "But we need help. Our magic's running low."

Lily's pocket buzzed. Her dad's old iphone, which she used to play games, was glowing brighter than ever before. The screen showed a battery charging—but it wasn't plugged in!

"Your phone's happy energy!" Pim exclaimed. "Lost things remember joy. Your phone remembers all the fun you've had together."

Lily realized something important. Every item on the shelves wasn't just lost stuff—it was something someone had loved. The pyramid wasn't storing junk. It was keeping memories safe until they could be returned.

"What if we tell everyone to check here first?" Lily suggested. "Instead of crying over lost things, they could visit you!"

Pim's eyes widened. "But humans stopped believing in magic places like this. They stopped looking with wonder."

"Not me," Lily said firmly. "And not my friends either. We still believe."

That night, Lily returned with three classmates. Together, they found missing baseballs, lost hair ribbons, and even a dog named Buster who had been missing for three days. The pyramid glowed brighter with each discovery.

"Thank you," Pim said. "You've reminded us that the best magic isn't in spells—it's in never losing your sense of wonder."

Lily brushed her hair from her face and smiled. Sometimes the most wonderful discoveries are the ones we make when we keep our hearts open to magic. And she would never, ever stop believing.
