The Pyramid of Kindness
Lily loved exploring the woods behind her house. Every Saturday, she and her golden dog Barnaby would discover something new. But today was different. Today, they found something impossible.
Near the sparkling stream that wound through the forest stood a small pyramid made of golden stones. It was only as tall as Lily's knees, but it glowed with a warm, magical light. The water nearby seemed to dance with rainbow colors.
Barnaby wagged his tail and sniffed the pyramid. Suddenly, the stones rumbled and began to move! A door appeared, and a strange figure stumbled out.
Lily gasped. It looked like a zombie from her storybooks—green skin, tattered clothes, and messy hair. But this zombie didn't scare her. Instead, he looked sad and lonely.
"Hello?" Lily said softly.
The zombie jumped. "You... you can see me? Everyone always runs away."
His name was Zed, and he explained he wasn't scary at all. He was the guardian of the Pyramid of Kindness, trapped here because people judged him by his appearance instead of his heart. For three hundred years, he had waited for someone brave enough to say hello.
Lily felt bad that Zed had been so lonely. "Well, you have a friend now. And Barnaby likes you too!"
Barnaby licked Zed's hand, and the zombie smiled for the first time in centuries.
"Thank you," Zed said. "Your kindness has broken the spell." He waved his hand, and the pyramid's magic flowed into the water, making it sparkle even brighter. "This water will now bring joy to anyone who drinks from it."
Lily learned an important lesson that day: true friends look with their hearts, not their eyes. And every Saturday, she and Barnaby visited Zed by the stream, where they had the best adventures anyone could imagine.
