The Pyramid in the Pool

Lily and Ben loved summer days best of all. Their favorite place was the old swimming pool behind the park, where the water sparkled like diamonds in the sunlight.

"Last one in is a rotten egg!" Ben shouted, splashing into the cool blue water.

Lily laughed and jumped in after him. They raced to the bottom, their fingers grazing the smooth tiles. But today felt different. The water felt... magical somehow.

Suddenly, the pool floor began to glow. Lily and Ben gasped as the tiles rearranged themselves into shimmering golden steps leading down, down, down into the deep. At the very bottom, something incredible appeared—a crystal pyramid rising from the sand, glowing with soft rainbow light.

"Wow!" Ben whispered, bubbles floating from his mouth.

They swam toward it, their hearts pounding with excitement. The pyramid had an underwater doorway, and inside, they found not treasure or gold, but something even better.

The walls were covered with ancient pictures—children swimming, children laughing, children sharing and helping each other. In the center of the room floated a silver message: "TRUE FRIENDSHIP IS THE GREATEST TREASURE."

Lily and Ben looked at each other and smiled. They had been friends since kindergarten, through scraped knees, lost toys, and scary thunderstorms. They held hands underwater, understanding the secret message.

The pyramid began to fade, transforming back into regular pool tiles. Lily and Ben swam to the surface, bursting into the warm air with laughter.

"Did that really happen?" Ben asked, wiping water from his eyes.

Lily nodded. "It was magic. But you know what? The best part wasn't the pyramid or the glowing lights."

"What then?" Ben asked.

"That we got to see it together."

They swam the rest of the afternoon, ordinary again but changed somehow. Because now they knew—any adventure is better with your best friend by your side, and the most precious treasure isn't gold or jewels, but someone who always has your back.

That night, Lily and Ben dreamed of rainbow pyramids and underwater magic, knowing that whatever adventures came next, they would face them together.
