The Pyramid in the Attic
Lily discovered the pyramid on a rainy Tuesday, tucked between dusty boxes in her grandmother's attic. It wasn't like the pyramids in her books—this one was small enough to hold in her hands, glowing with a soft amber light that made her fingers tingle.
"What are you?" she whispered, tracing its smooth edges.
The pyramid warmed beneath her touch. Suddenly, tiny sparkles swirled around it like fireflies, and a creature no bigger than a teacup popped into existence! He had fur the color of sunshine, enormous emerald eyes, and wings that shimmered like soap bubbles.
"I've been waiting for a friend!" the creature squeaked joyfully. "I'm Bimble!"
Lily's grandmother appeared in the doorway, smiling. "The Friendship Pyramid. It found you."
"Friendship Pyramid?" Lily asked.
"It appears when someone needs a true friend," her grandmother explained. "But Bimble can only stay if you promise to share adventures together."
Bimble did a happy flip in the air. "Oh! We could go running through the Whispering Woods! Or climb the Candy Cane Mountains! Or race the shooting stars!"
Lily's heart fluttered. She'd always wanted an adventure companion. "I promise!"
Every afternoon after school, Lily and Bimble would go running through magical places that only appeared when the pyramid glowed. They raced cloud rabbits across sunset skies. They danced with moonflowers that bloomed to music only children could hear. They helped lost fireflies find their way home.
One day, Bimble looked sad. "The pyramid is fading," he said quietly. "You haven't been running with me lately."
Lily realized she'd been too busy with video games and television. Her friend needed her.
"Tomorrow," she promised, "we'll have the biggest adventure yet."
They did. And the pyramid glowed brighter than ever before.
Lily learned something important that summer: the best magic isn't in pyramids or sparkly creatures. The real magic is showing up for the friends who need you—even when you're busy—because adventures are better together.
