The Pyramid Door
Emma loved exploring her grandmother's attic. Among dusty boxes and old photographs, she found something strange—a small golden pyramid with tiny symbols that seemed to shimmer in the sunlight.
"What do you think this is, Buster?" she asked her loyal dog, who wagged his tail excitedly.
Nearby, an old cable coiled like a sleeping snake. Emma had never seen anything like it. The cable glowed softly where it touched the pyramid. Curious, she connected them.
WHOOSH! The pyramid grew taller than her house. A door appeared in its golden surface, pulsing with magical light.
Buster barked bravely as Emma stepped inside. She wasn't in an attic anymore—she stood in a magical land with purple skies and rivers that sparkled like diamonds.
"Hello?" Emma called.
A figure shuffled from behind a crystal tree. It looked green and droopy, like a zombie from storybooks. Emma almost screamed until the creature spoke.
"Would you like some honey? I'm Zed, and I'm NOT scary!"
A friendly bear with a golden coat stepped forward. "I'm Barnaby. Zed may look tired and droopy, but he's the kindest friend in all the magical lands."
Emma felt her fear melt away. "I'm Emma, and this is Buster!"
They spent the afternoon playing hide-and-seek among crystal trees and dancing with fireflies that sang like tiny bells. Zed wasn't scary at all—he was funny and made wonderful jokes.
When it was time to leave, Emma hugged her new friends. "I'll come back every week!"
The pyramid shrank back to toy size. Emma placed it carefully on her shelf, the cable still attached. Every Saturday, she and Buster stepped through the pyramid door to visit Zed and Barnaby.
Emma learned something magical that day: things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes the scariest-looking creatures make the best friends, and the most wonderful adventures begin with being brave enough to say hello.
