The Pool Party Magic

Emma loved summer more than anything. Her brown curly hair bounced as she ran toward the community pool, her flip-flops slapping the pavement. Today was the annual pool party, and Emma couldn't wait.

But something was wrong. The pool was empty. No kids. No splashing. Just an old pool noodle floating sadly in the middle.

"The zombie pool," whispered Tommy from behind the fence. He was the neighborhood boy who never swam. "Every summer, this pool turns into a zombie pool. No one comes back."

Emma frowned. She didn't believe in zombies. But she did believe in mysteries.

That night, when the moon rose high and silver, Emma crept back to the pool. She peeked through the fence and gasped.

The water was glowing!

Soft blue light rippled across the surface, and the old pool noodle was dancing on the water, wiggling like a friendly snake. Emma's hair stood on end – but not from fear. From wonder!

She climbed the fence and tiptoed to the pool's edge.

"Hello?" she called.

Suddenly, the water bubbled. Up popped a creature made entirely of pool toys – a noodle body, a ball head, and foam hands. It wobbled adorably.

"I'm Zom!" the pool toy creature said. "I'm the pool zombie! I was made from all the forgotten pool toys kids left behind. I'm not scary – I'm lonely!"

Emma giggled. "You're not a zombie. You're a friend!"

Zom smiled, making a squeaky sound. "Will you play with me?"

Emma jumped in! The magical water was warm and bubbled with laughter. She and Zom played until the stars twinkled above them.

The next morning, Emma returned with all the neighborhood kids. She told them the truth – the pool wasn't haunted. It was magical, and Zom needed friends.

Soon, the pool was filled with laughter again. And Zom became the pool's guardian, making sure no toy was ever forgotten or lonely again.

Emma learned something important that summer: things that seem scary are often just misunderstood, waiting for someone brave enough to discover the magic underneath.

Now every time she jumps in the pool, she sees Zom waving, and her heart fills with joy.
