The Pool of Wishing Stars
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house, especially the old swimming pool in the backyard. But this wasn't just any pool — Grandma called it the Pool of Wishing Stars, because on summer nights, you could see hundreds of stars reflecting in its blue water.
One evening, as Lily sat by the pool dangling her feet in the cool water, she heard rustling in the bushes. Out popped a brown bear wearing a colorful baseball cap! Lily gasped, but the bear smiled warmly.
"Hello there!" the bear said. "I'm Benny. I'm not a scary bear — I'm a baseball bear! I play on the midnight team in the forest."
Lily's eyes widened. "A baseball team? For bears?"
"And raccoons, rabbits, and foxes too!" Benny chuckled. "We're one player short for tonight's game under the moon. Would you like to be our friend and play?"
"Yes!" Lily clapped, then paused. "But how will I see in the dark?"
Benny winked. "Do you have your iphone? The moonlight makes special apps work magic tonight."
Lily pulled out her phone and suddenly it began to glow with soft, silver light — like capturing moonbeams! Benny took her paw and led her through a hidden path behind the pool.
What happened next was pure wonder. The forest was filled with friendly animals playing baseball with glowing balls that left trails of sparkles. Lily played outfield and caught a home run! The animals cheered, and she felt braver than she ever had.
When the game ended, Benny walked her back. "Remember," he said, "magic happens when you make new friends and say yes to adventures."
The next morning, the pool looked ordinary again, but Lily noticed something shining at the bottom — a baseball covered in tiny stars. Some magic, she realized, stays with you forever, especially the magic of friendship and courage.
