The Pool of Wishing Stars
Luna the cat sat by the edge of the old swimming pool, her silver fur glowing in the moonlight. The pool hadn't been used in years, but tonight something magical was happening. Tiny blue lights flickered beneath the surface, like stars had fallen from the sky and decided to take a swim.
"Luna!" barked Barnaby, a golden retriever puppy with floppy ears and a heart full of adventure. "You have to see this! I followed a butterfly past the oak tree, and guess what I found?"
Luna's whiskers twitched. "What?"
"A real bear!" Barnaby danced in excited circles. "But not a scary one. She's old and wise, and she calls herself Mother Bear. She told me this pool is magic!"
Before Luna could reply, a massive shadow emerged from the forest. Mother Bear appeared, her fur the color of autumn leaves, kind eyes twinkling like the lights in the water.
"Welcome, little friends," the bear rumbled gently. "Once every hundred years, the Pool of Wishing Stars appears. Those pure of heart can make one wish."
Luna and Barnaby exchanged looks. The pool lights swirled into beautiful patterns—first a butterfly, then a rainbow, then two animals dancing together.
"What would you wish for?" Mother Bear asked.
Barnaby thought hard. "I wish... I wish every animal could be friends, just like us!"
The pool erupted in silver sparkles. Wind whirled around them, carrying whispers of animals across the world—cats and dogs playing together, bears sharing berries with rabbits, wolves singing with deer.
When the lights settled, Mother Bear smiled. "A brave wish. Friendship takes courage, but it's the strongest magic of all."
Luna touched her nose to Barnaby's. "We already have the best wish right here."
The three friends sat by the glowing pool until sunrise, watching the wishing stars dance. And somewhere in the world, a cat curled up beside a dog, and a bear shared honey with a mouse, because one brave puppy had wished for nothing more than friendship.
