The Pool of Wishing Stars

Mia loved the old **palm** tree at the edge of her grandmother's garden. Its trunk was twisted like a wrung-out towel, and its fronds whispered secrets when the wind blew through them. But what Mia loved most was what she discovered behind it—a hidden pool so clear it looked like a piece of the sky had fallen to earth.

One afternoon, as Mia practiced **baseball** against the palm tree's trunk, dark clouds gathered. Thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy. Just as Mia wound up for her best pitch, a bolt of **lightning** cracked open the sky—FLASH!—and struck the pool!

The water began to glow. Sparkles danced across its surface like hundreds of tiny stars.

Then, from the shadows, emerged the largest animal Mia had ever seen—a magnificent **bull** with fur the color of sunset and horns that curled like crescent moons. Mia trembled, but the bull's eyes were warm and gentle, like hot chocolate on a cold day.

"Don't be afraid," the bull rumbled softly. "I am Ferdinand, guardian of the Wishing Pool. The lightning has awakened its magic."

Mia's baseball rolled into the glowing water. Instantly, it transformed—spinning, growing, bursting with light until it became a magnificent crystal ball pulsing with rainbow colors.

"The pool grants one wish to those with pure hearts," said Ferdinand. "What do you desire?"

Mia thought hard. She could wish for endless candy, or to be the best baseball player ever, or for a room filled with toys. But then she remembered the lonely kids at school who had no one to play with.

"I wish," Mia said, "for a friend who loves adventure as much as I do."

The pool flared brighter. From its depths appeared another child—Leo, holding a baseball glove just like hers. His eyes sparkled with curiosity and wonder.

"I've been waiting for someone to find this place," Leo grinned.

Ferdinand nodded. "True friendship is the rarest magic of all."

And so, beneath the whispering palm tree, Mia and Leo became best friends, playing baseball by the Wishing Pool, where sometimes, if they were very lucky, they'd catch Ferdinand watching over them with his warm sunset eyes, reminding them that the best wishes are the ones we share.
