The Pool of Wishing Stars
Lila lived where the sand sparkled like sugar and the ocean kissed the shore twice every day. Behind her little house stood a giant palm tree, its fronds dancing in the warm breeze like green dresses at a party. Every evening, Lila would sit beneath it, listening to the leaves whisper secrets in a language only she understood.
One afternoon, while exploring a hidden path she'd never noticed before, Lila discovered something magical. A pool of crystal-clear water shimmered between two rocks, so still it looked like a piece of the sky had fallen to earth. Tiny fish in every color of the rainbow swam beneath the surface, and the water glowed with soft light even though it was shaded by trees.
'It's the Pool of Wishing Stars,' said a deep, rumbly voice.
Lila turned around and gasped. Standing there was a bear—not a scary bear, but a gentle one with warm brown eyes and fur the color of toasted coconut. His name was Bruno, and he explained that he was the keeper of the magical pool. Anyone who made a pure wish here would have it granted.
'But there's a rule,' Bruno said seriously. 'You must give something to receive something.'
Lila thought hard. Her grandmother couldn't walk far anymore, and Lila's deepest wish was for her to dance once more. But what could she give? In her pocket, she found a ripe papaya she'd picked earlier for her grandmother's breakfast. It was sweet and golden, perfect for sharing.
'I wish for my grandmother to dance,' Lila said, placing the papaya at the water's edge. 'And I give this papaya with all my love.'
The pool began to sparkle. Stars seemed to swim up from the depths, swirling around the papaya until it transformed into something even sweeter—a magical fruit that would give joy to whoever ate it. Bruno nodded approvingly.
That night, Lila's grandmother ate the enchanted papaya. The next morning, she stood up and began to dance around the palm tree, laughing with pure joy.
Lila learned that day that the purest gifts come from the heart, and magic lives wherever love freely flows. Now every sunset, she and Bruno sit by the pool, watching the wishing stars swirl and sparkle, ready to help others who give with love.
