The Pool of Wishing Stars
Lily loved the old stone pool at the bottom of her garden. It wasn't just any pool — it was a pool of magic. Every night, stars seemed to dance across its surface, even when the sky was cloudy.
One warm evening, Lily sat by the water with her golden dog, Sunny. The pool rippled without wind. suddenly, a sleek fox appeared at the edge of the trees, his fur shining like autumn leaves.
"You're here at the perfect time," whispered the fox, his voice twinkling like chimes. "Tonight, the pool becomes a doorway."
Lily's heart raced. "A doorway to where?"
"To the Pyramid of Wishes," the fox replied. "But we must go together. A true adventure needs friends."
Sunny wagged his tail as if he understood everything. Lily took the fox's paw, and with a splash that felt like starlight, they tumbled through the pool.
They emerged in a golden desert where a magnificent pyramid shimmered with rainbow light. Inside, they found walls covered in glowing paintings of children's dreams.
"The pyramid holds every wish ever made," the fox explained. "But only those who come with friends can make their wish real."
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for toys or candy or adventures. But looking at her brave dog and her new friend the fox, she knew what truly mattered.
"I wish that everyone could have a friend as wonderful as you," Lily said softly.
The pyramid flared with brilliant light. When Lily opened her eyes, she was back beside her garden pool, the fox licking her cheek and Sunny bouncing around them happily.
"Your wish already came true," the fox said. "We found each other, didn't we?"
And every night after, when Lily visited the pool, she saw her reflection smiling back at her, surrounded by two friends — one with fur like gold, one with fur like autumn, and a heart full of magic.
