The Pool of Wishes
Lily loved **running** through her grandmother's garden, where flowers grew taller than her head and butterflies painted the air with rainbows. But her favorite place was the hidden **pool** behind the old oak tree.
One rainy afternoon, Lily sat by the water's edge, watching ripples dance. Suddenly, the water shimmered like silver, and a tiny **goldfish** popped its head above the surface.
"Hello, Lily!" the goldfish said. "I'm Finnegan, and I need your help!"
Lily rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"
"Only when magic is near," Finnegan bubbled. "The Great **Sphinx** of Dreams has lost her riddle, and without it, she can't guard the dreams of children everywhere!"
"How can I help?" Lily asked, her heart pounding with excitement.
"You're clever and kind," Finnegan said. "The Sphinx lives beyond the waterfall. But beware—her guardian is a grumpy **bull** who loves riddles too!"
Lily took a deep breath and stepped through the waterfall's curtain. Inside, she found a magnificent stone Sphinx with emerald eyes, looking sad. Beside her sat a massive golden bull, snorting clouds of glitter.
"I've forgotten my riddle," the Sphinx sighed. "Without it, children's dreams will fade into darkness."
The bull stomped his hoof. "I remember! But I'll only tell someone who proves they're brave enough."
Lily thought hard. She wasn't the strongest or fastest, but she knew something important.
"The bravest thing," she said softly, "is helping others even when you're scared yourself."
The Sphinx's emerald eyes sparkled. "That's it! That's the riddle's answer!" She touched Lily's forehead with her stone paw. "Thank you, brave one."
The bull grinned, his grumpiness gone. "You passed!"
When Lily returned to the garden, Finnegan splashed happily. "You saved the dreams!" He gave her a shiny scale. "Keep this, and whenever you need courage, hold it tight."
That night, Lily dreamed of riddles and magic, knowing that even the smallest person can make the biggest difference. And sometimes, the most wonderful adventures wait right behind your own backyard.
