The Pool of Wishes

Leo loved running through his neighborhood, his feet pounding against the warm pavement. But more than anything, he loved pretending to be a secret agent on important missions. Every afternoon after school, he'd grab his toy magnifying glass and his spy notebook, ready to solve mysteries.

One Tuesday, Leo was on his most important mission yet. He was spying on the old swimming pool at the end of Maple Street. Adults said it had been closed for years, but Leo had noticed something strange—sparkling lights flickering there at midnight.

"I'm Agent Leo," he whispered to himself, creeping closer to the rusty fence. "And I'm going to discover the secret."

That night, Leo tiptoed out of his house and ran toward the pool, his heart beating fast. What he saw made him gasp. The empty pool wasn't empty at all! It was filled with glowing blue water, and floating on top were hundreds of tiny paper boats, each carrying a candle.

But that wasn't the most amazing part. Fairies! Tiny, glowing fairies were dancing around the pool, reading the wishes written on each paper boat and making them come true.

One fairy looked up and spotted Leo. Instead of being scared, she smiled and flew over.

"We're the Wish Makers," she explained. "Every night, children's wishes find their way here. But our pool is lonely—no one has believed in magic for so long. Will you help us?"

Leo nodded eagerly. For hours, he ran back and forth, collecting forgotten wishes from neighborhood children and bringing them to the magical pool. He watched as wishes came true—timid Maya found courage to speak in class, sad Tommy's dog came home, and lonely Lily made her first friend.

By dawn, Leo understood the best secret of all: The most powerful wishes were the ones you helped make come true for others.

Now, Leo still loves running and pretending to be a spy. But every night, he's the guardian of the Pool of Wishes, making sure magic never disappears from the world.
