The Pool of Starlight Swimmers

Lily loved the old stone pool in her garden. It wasn't like other pools. It was shaped like a crescent moon, and the water always sparkled, even on cloudy days. But Grandma warned her never to swim there alone.

One summer evening, as the sky blushed pink, Lily sat by the pool's edge, dangling her feet. The water felt surprisingly warm, like a gentle hug. Suddenly, tiny ripples appeared. Then something magical happened — stars began falling from the sky, landing in the pool with soft splashes.

They weren't just stars. They were Starfish Children, glowing silver and gold, swimming in joyful circles. "Come join us!" bubbled the smallest star. "We're collecting wishes!"

Lily hesitated. Grandma's warning echoed in her mind. But the Starfish Children looked so happy, swimming together like a family of glowing fish. She noticed something wonderful — the brighter they swam together, the more they sparkled.

"Are you collecting wishes for yourselves?" Lily asked.

The star children giggled, creating ripples of light. "No! We collect forgotten wishes from children who stopped believing in magic. Then we swim them back to the sky, where they become real again!"

Lily's heart swelled. She had stopped believing in magic last year when her pet fish disappeared. But maybe, just maybe, magic had never left.

"I have a wish," she whispered. "I wish my fish Finny was happy, wherever he is."

The Starfish Children swam closer, their light growing brighter. "That wish is already swimming in the sky," they chorused. "Finny became a star too!"

That night, Lily learned something beautiful: magic never disappears, it just changes form. Sometimes love becomes light, wishes become stars, and pools become doorways to wonder. And the best kind of swimming always happens with friends.

Now every evening, Lily visits the pool, watching the Starfish Children swim wishes back to the sky. And somewhere up there, a very happy star fish twinkles back at her.
