The Pool of Magic Vitamins

Leo shuffled to the community pool, clutching his worn baseball glove. The summer heat shimmered off the empty pool deck. No friends. No one to play catch with. Just Leo and his imagination.

That's when he saw it—a lumpy green figure wobbling near the pool's edge. It moved in slow, jerky steps, arms outstretched. A zombie!

Leo almost ran. But then the figure sneezed. Zombies didn't sneeze, did they?

"Excuse me," the zombie said in a squeaky voice. "I'm feeling very sluggish today."

Leo crept closer. It wasn't a real zombie at all—it was a girl named Zoe wearing bumpy green makeup and torn clothes, practicing for her Halloween costume.

"I'm Zoe," she said. "Want to play?"

Leo's eyes lit up. He pulled a baseball from his pocket. "Do you like baseball?"

"I love baseball!" Zoe cheered.

They played catch until Leo's arm hurt. Then Zoe noticed something glittering in the pool. "What's that?"

Rainbow-colored tablets bobbed in the water. They looked like... vitamins?

"Magic vitamins," Leo whispered, remembering the old pool keeper's stories. "One sip gives you whatever you need most."

Zoe splashed her hand in the water. "I wish I had more friends."

A purple vitamin floated to her palm. When she swallowed it, sparkles swirled around her. Kids from the neighborhood started appearing at the pool gate, drawn by something magical.

"Want to play baseball?" Leo called out.

Soon, twelve children laughed and played in the summer sun. Leo wasn't lonely anymore. And Zoe? She wasn't practicing for Halloween anymore—she was just Zoe, Leo's best friend.

That day, Leo learned that the best magic isn't found in vitamins or pool water. The real magic is friendship—and sometimes, it starts when you least expect it, even with someone dressed like a zombie.
