The Pool of Dreams
Lily loved summer mornings best. The sun painted everything gold, and the backyard pool sparkled like a giant jewel. But today was special. Today, she was ready for adventure.
Her golden retriever Barnaby trotted beside her, tail wagging like a metronome. He always knew when something exciting was about to happen.
"Ready, Barnaby?" she whispered, dipping her toes into the cool water.
Ripples danced across the surface, reflecting the morning sky. But then something strange happened. The ripples didn't fade—they grew.
Lily leaned closer. Deep beneath the shimmering water, something glowed. A shape. A structure. It couldn't be...
"Barnaby, look!" she gasped. "There's a pyramid underwater!"
The dog barked happily, as if this were the most normal thing in the world.
Lily took a deep breath and dove in. The moment she touched the bottom, the water felt warm, not wet. Like liquid sunshine. The pyramid wasn't made of stone—it was made of light, pulsing with every color of the rainbow.
A door appeared. Inside, tiny creatures with wings like dragonflies zoomed around, leaving trails of bubbles. They were the Dream Keepers, guardians of every child's wishes.
"We've been waiting for you," said the smallest one, her voice like wind chimes. "Someone who believes in magic."
She handed Lily a silver whistle. "When you need us, just blow this. But remember—the best magic is the kind you share."
Lily surfaced, gasping, the whistle clutched in her hand. Barnaby was running in circles, barking at something in the grass.
Her little brother Timmy stood there, looking lonely.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
Lily smiled. The whistle was hers alone, but the magic was too wonderful to keep. "Come here, Timmy. I have something amazing to show you."
That day, they learned the truest magic of all: adventures are sweeter when shared, and the biggest dreams fit perfectly in two hearts instead of one.
