The Pond of Wishing Waters

bullbearwatergoldfish

In a meadow where the grass grew tall and sweet, there lived a big bull named Barnaby. Barnaby was gentle as could be, but he was lonely. Every day he walked to the forest edge and looked longingly at the shadows beyond, wishing for a friend.

One hot afternoon, when the sun made the air shimmer like honey, Barnaby trotted deeper into the woods than ever before. His hooves crunched on dry leaves until he heard something—*splash, splash, giggling.*

He pushed through a curtain of vines and found himself staring at the most beautiful *water* he had ever seen. The pond sparkled with a light of its own, as if tiny stars swam beneath the surface.

There, sitting on the bank with fuzzy wet paws, was a bear. But this bear wasn't scary. She was cub-sized, with fur the color of autumn leaves, and she was laughing.

"Hello!" called Barnaby, forgetting he was supposed to be shy.

The bear jumped. "Oh! A *bull*! I'm Berrie. I come here every day to make wishes."

Barnaby stepped closer, and the *water* rippled toward him as if greeting an old friend. Beneath the surface, something orange flashed—bright as a tiny sun.

A little fish with scales like *gold* swam to the surface. It had fins like waving silk and eyes that held ancient secrets.

"I'm Finnigan," the fish seemed to say without speaking. Berrie nodded. "He's the wishing goldfish! Whatever we wish for together comes true!"

Barnaby's heart swelled. "I wish for a friend."

Berrie's eyes shone. "Me too!"

Finnigan did a joyful spin, and the pond glowed so bright they had to squint. When the light faded, something warm settled in Barnaby's chest—like sunshine from the inside out.

Berrie took his paw. "Now we're friends forever, Barnaby. The magic worked because we wished the same wish."

Every sunset after that, the bull, the bear, and the goldfish gathered at the glowing pond. They learned that friendship wasn't about being the same—it was about wishing together. And sometimes, the most unlikely friends make the best magic of all.
