The Pocket Moon Friend
Lily loved living near the beach, where the palm trees swayed like dancing green umbrellas against the starry sky. Every night, she would sit on her porch and watch the moon climb high above the ocean.
One evening, something magical happened. A tiny piece of the moon broke off and fell right into the palm of her hand! It wasn't hot like she expected—it was cool and glowing, pulsing like a little heartbeat.
"Hello there," Lily whispered, cupping the moon fragment gently. It twinkled back at her, and suddenly she could hear a tiny voice, like silver bells ringing.
"I'm lost," said the little moon piece. "I need my special moon vitamins to get back home!"
Lily's eyes widened. "Moon vitamins? What are those?"
"Starlight sprinkles," the moon explained sadly. "But I'm too small to reach them myself."
Without hesitation, Lily knew what she had to do. This was her chance to help someone in need. She climbed to the highest palm tree in her yard, balancing carefully on the swaying trunk. Stretching her fingers toward the sky, she caught starlight in her hands, letting the glittering drops fall into her palm where the moon piece waited.
Each starlight drop made the little moon grow brighter and stronger. Soon, it was glowing so brightly that Lily had to squint.
"Thank you, friend," the moon piece said, its voice now strong and clear. "You showed me that even the smallest helpers can do the biggest things."
With a whoosh of silver light, the moon piece zoomed back into the sky, fitting perfectly into its place. The moon shone brighter than ever that night, and Lily swore she could hear it humming a happy song.
From that night on, whenever Lily looked at the moon, it would wink at her. She had learned that helping others, no matter how small they might be, was the most magical thing of all.
