The Pocket Galaxy Portal

Lily never imagined her ordinary afternoon would turn extraordinary. She sat in her backyard, tossing her baseball up and down, while Barnaby—her golden retriever with fur like sunshine—watched with head tilted sideways.

"I wish something magical would happen," Lily sighed, catching the ball with a soft thwack.

Suddenly, Barnaby's ears perked up. He trotted to Lily's discarded iPhone on the grass and nudged it with his wet nose. The screen flickered to life, but instead of her usual apps, swirling galaxies and twinkling stars filled the display.

"Barnaby! Look!" Lily gasped, dropping her baseball. The phone wasn't just showing stars—it was pulling them in, like a tiny black hole. Stars streamed from the screen, swirling around Barnaby, who barked joyfully.

A small figure no taller than a dandelion popped out from the starlight. It was a Star Child, glowing with soft blue light.

"You found the Portal!" the Star Child squeaked. "Our galaxy is sick. We need help!"

Lily's heart pounded. "What kind of help?"

"Our sun is fading. We need Earth's most powerful medicine—your vitamin D tablet!" The Star Child pointed to the bottle on the patio table.

Lily grabbed her baseball instead. "Take this! It's got sunshine stored inside from all my summer games!"

The Star Child touched the baseball, and it burst into golden light, shooting straight into the iPhone screen. Suddenly, the device projected a brilliant beam of sunshine into the sky above.

Barnaby howled happily as stars twinkled brighter in the daylight.

"Thank you!" The Star Child called, diving back into the phone. "Your sunshine saved our galaxy!"

The iPhone went dark, then returned to normal. But now, whenever Lily checked her photos, she found new pictures of Barnaby playing among the stars.

That night, as Lily gave Barnaby his晚安 hug, she noticed something magical—tiny sparkles danced around his collar. Sometimes the most ordinary things—an old baseball, a faithful dog, a phone, a vitamin—can create the most extraordinary magic when you believe in wonder.

Lily drifted to sleep with a smile, knowing somewhere in the stars, a whole galaxy was shining brighter because of her and Barnaby.
