The Papaya Pyramid's Lightning Gift

Maya loved visiting her grandmother's house in Mexico, especially the garden with the giant papaya tree. Its leaves were as big as elephant ears, and the orange fruit hung like lanterns from the branches.

One rainy afternoon, Maya watched a brilliant bolt of lightning flash across the sky. Grandma Rosa called her inside for safety, but Maya noticed something strange—the lightning had struck the papaya tree!

When the storm passed, Maya ran outside. At the base of the tree, she found a glowing papaya that wasn't there before. But when she picked it up, she gasped. Inside the papaya's orange flesh sat a perfect little pyramid made of crystal light.

"The lightning left you a gift," Grandma Rosa said, appearing behind her with a smile. "This is a Papaya Pyramid. It holds the magic of the storm."

"What does it do?" Maya asked, her eyes wide.

"It gives light to those who need it most," Grandma explained. "Look closely."

Maya peered into the tiny pyramid and saw scenes: a lighthouse keeper whose light had gone out, a child afraid of the dark, a village celebrating a festival. The pyramid pulsed with warmth, and Maya understood its purpose.

That night, Maya and Grandma placed the Papaya Pyramid on the windowsill. Its soft glow filled their room, and Maya felt brave knowing that somewhere, someone was finding light because of their magical gift.

Now, every time Maya eats papaya, she wonders if lightning has hidden another secret inside, waiting to share its magic with the world.
