The Papaya Pyramid Mystery

Lily pushed her glasses up her nose and stared at the strange golden shape glowing in her backyard. It looked just like a miniature pyramid, no bigger than her cat Pumpkin.

Pumpkin, a fluffy orange tabby, pawed at the golden pyramid curiously. As the cat's whiskers brushed against it, the pyramid began to hum and sparkle like fireflies.

"What are you doing?" Lily whispered, kneeling beside Pumpkin.

Suddenly, the pyramid popped open like a treasure chest! Out tumbled not gold or jewels, but a small figure wrapped in bandages—a tiny zombie!

Lily gasped and grabbed Pumpkin, but the little zombie didn't moan or shuffle scary-like. Instead, it bowed politely and pointed at the papaya Lily had left on the grass.

"Hungy," the zombie squeaked in a friendly voice. "Very hungry."

Lily's eyes widened. "You... you eat papaya?"

The zombie nodded eagerly and did a little happy dance. Lily carefully cut a slice of the sweet orange fruit and handed it over. The zombie ate it with joy, its bandaged face smiling.

"Thank you!" it cheered. "I am Zimpy, guardian of the Magic Pyramid. I slept for one hundred years until something sweet and yummy woke me up!"

Lily giggled. "I'm Lily, and this is Pumpkin."

Zimpy became Lily's secret friend. Every afternoon, she'd bring papaya slices, and Zimpy would tell magical stories about ancient kingdoms and brave adventures. Pumpkin loved napping beside the pyramid while Zimpy made the bandages on his arms dance like puppets.

One day, Zimpy taught Lily something important. "People think scary zombie means bad zombie," Zimpy said, "but sometimes scary things just need a friend and a sweet papaya."

Lily hugged her knees and smiled. She learned that day that friendship comes in all shapes and sizes—even bandaged ones—and that a little kindness can wake up magic in the most unexpected places.

And every evening, as the sun set, Lily, Pumpkin, and Zimpy would share papaya slices under the stars, the best of friends in their magical backyard pyramid.
