The Papaya Pool Party

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house in Florida. The backyard was magical, with a swimming pool that sparkled like diamonds under the sun. Best of all, there was a tiny goldfish pond in the corner, where three orange fish — Splash, Bubbles, and Glitter — lived happily.

One hot afternoon, Lily sat by the big pool, dangling her feet in the cool water. She was eating a sweet papaya that Grandmother had cut for her. The orange fruit was delicious, like sunshine in her mouth.

"Want some?" Lily asked, holding out a piece to the goldfish in their nearby pond. They swam excitedly to the surface.

"Actually, dear," Grandmother called from the porch, "goldfish need special food. Papaya might upset their tummies. Just like you need your vitamins every morning, fish need the right food too!"

Lily nodded. She knew about vitamins — they helped her grow strong and healthy. She didn't want to make the fish sick!

Suddenly, a baby gecko crawled onto Lily's knee. It looked hungry. Its tiny eyes stared at the papaya in her hand.

"Oh!" Lily gasped. "Geckos can eat papaya!"

She placed a small piece on the palm of her hand. The gecko happily nibbled it while Lily sat perfectly still. It tickled!

But then Lily noticed something sad. The goldfish were watching, looking lonely. And the gecko was eating alone by the big pool, far from its family.

Lily had an idea. She ran to get Grandmother's special fish food and sprinkled some for the goldfish. Then she moved closer to the garden wall, where two more geckos were waiting. She shared more papaya with them.

Soon, everyone was happy. The goldfish danced in their pond. The geckos sat together on a warm rock, enjoying their treat. Lily sat between both pools, feeling warm inside.

"What did you learn today?" Grandmother asked.

"That everyone needs the right food to be healthy," Lily said, "and that everything is better when we share with friends!"

Grandmother smiled. "That's the most important lesson of all."
