The Papaya Dragon's Gift

Lily had the most magnificent **hair** in the village. It wasn't just brown or black or yellow—it changed color like a sunset! When she was happy, it shimmered gold. When she was curious, it turned deep purple. But when she was sad, it became dull gray, like storm clouds.

One hot afternoon, Lily sat by the river, feeling lonely. The other children were too busy to play. Her hair was completely gray.

"Why the long face?" asked a tiny voice.

Lily looked around. No one was there.

"Down here! In the **papaya**!"

Lily gasped. A perfect orange papaya was floating in the **water** beside her. But it wasn't just a fruit—peeking out from a little door in its side was a miniature dragon, no bigger than her hand! Its scales sparkled like diamonds.

"I'm Plop," said the dragon. "I live inside this papaya. It's my magical boat."

"I'm Lily," she whispered. "Can I be your **friend**?"

Plop's eyes lit up. "A friend! I haven't had a friend in forever!"

He climbed out of his papaya and sat on Lily's knee. "But I'm sad, Lily. The river is drying up. My papaya home might get stuck in the mud."

Lily's hair turned a deep, thoughtful blue. "We need to find the source of the river!"

"But it's far away," Plop said. "And I'm so small."

"Not too small for an adventure!" Lily cried. Her hair suddenly flared brilliant pink—excitement!

They followed the river upstream, past whispering reeds and sleeping turtles. At last, they found a pile of rocks blocking the spring. Lily and Plop worked together, pushing and pulling until—CRASH! The rocks tumbled away. Fresh water burst forth, dancing down the riverbed.

"You did it!" Plop cheered.

Lily smiled. "WE did it."

Suddenly, her hair began to glow—not just one color, but every color at once! It sparkled brighter than ever before.

"Your hair!" Plop gasped. "It's glowing rainbow!"

Lily understood then what made her hair truly beautiful—not showing off or being the center of attention, but helping others. And now she had a friend who would sail with her forever, floating down the river in a magical papaya boat, ready for their next adventure together.
