The Papaya Baseball Championship

Lila lived on an island where magic grew on trees. Every morning, she climbed the ancient **palm** tree behind her house to watch the waves. The tree was special—its leaves whispered secrets when the wind blew.

One day, something tumbled from the highest branch. A glowing **papaya** landed softly in Lila's hands. It sparkled like a starfruit, but sweeter.

"Throw me!" the papaya squeaked.

Lila nearly dropped it. "You can talk?"

"I'm magical! Now toss me to your friends!"

Lila ran to the beach where her best friends Koa and Mali were playing **baseball** with a old coconut. Their faces lit up when they saw the glowing papaya.

"Where did you find that?" Koa asked, eyes wide.

"The palm tree gave it to me," Lila said. "Watch this."

She threw the papaya. It didn't just fly—it burst into sparkles, trailing rainbow colors across the sky. Koa caught it easily, and when he threw it back, the papaya made a musical note like a tiny bell.

Mali clapped. "This is the best baseball ever!"

They played until sunset, the magical papaya singing with every throw. But when Lila went to toss it one last time, the papaya wobbled in mid-air.

"I'm fading," it whispered. "Magic needs to be shared."

The papaya burst into a thousand droplets that splashed into the ocean **water** below. But instead of disappearing, the water began to glow. Everywhere the magical droplets touched, tiny lights danced on the waves like floating lanterns.

Koa squeezed Lila's shoulder. "It's not gone. Look."

The lights swirled together, forming the shape of a smiling face on the water's surface.

"Thank you for playing with me," the ocean seemed to say.

That night, as Lila climbed down from the palm tree, she noticed something new. Tiny star-shaped fruits were growing on the lowest branches—gifts from the magical papaya. She picked one and took a bite. It tasted like sunshine and friendship.

"The best magic," Lila whispered, "is the kind you share."
