The Palm Tree's Secret Wish

Mia loved the old palm tree in her backyard. Its leaves danced in the breeze like green feathers, and she always imagined it was watching over her like a gentle giant.

One stormy night, Mia sat by her window, watching raindrops race down the glass. Suddenly—FLASH! A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky and struck the palm tree with a brilliant glow.

Mia rushed outside, forgetting her raincoat. The palm tree was shimmering softly, and where the lightning had struck, a small creature appeared. It looked like a tiny bull made of starlight, with shimmering silver horns and a coat that sparkled like the night sky.

"Hello," Mia whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.

The star-bull nuzzled her palm with a nose warm as sunshine. "I've been trapped in the lightning for a hundred years," it said in a voice like distant thunder. "Will you be my friend?"

Mia smiled. "I've always wanted a magical friend. What's your name?"

"Thunder," the bull replied. "And I grant one wish to whoever frees me."

Mia thought carefully. She could wish for toys, or candy, or even to fly. But she looked at Thunder's lonely eyes and remembered how she sometimes felt lonely too.

"I wish," Mia said, "that every lonely child finds a wonderful friend—just like I found you."

Thunder's silver horns glowed brighter than ever. Sparkles rained down like glitter, swirling around the world in invisible streams of magic.

"Your wish is granted," Thunder said. "And you have given me something too—the kindest friend I could ever ask for."

From that night on, Mia and Thunder played in the magical space between lightning strikes. And somewhere, far away, another lonely child looked up at the sky and saw their own star-bull friend waiting in the next flash of lightning.

The old palm tree kept swaying, its secret safe—friendship is the most powerful magic of all.
