The Palm Tree's Secret Vitamin
Lily loved the old palm tree at the edge of her garden. Its leaves whispered secrets in the wind, and she always waved back. One summer afternoon, something extraordinary happened.
A small orange cat with the fluffiest hair Lily had ever seen appeared at the base of the palm tree. But this wasn't an ordinary cat. When it meowed, tiny sparkles floated from its mouth like magic dust.
"Hello there," Lily whispered, kneeling down. The cat trotted up her palm and placed something in her hand—a glowing golden pellet.
"What's this?" Lily gasped.
The cat spoke! "A star vitamin. The palm tree and I make them for children who need extra courage."
Lily's eyes widened. "Why do children need courage vitamins?"
"Because," the cat explained, "tomorrow is the Great School Talent Show, and I know someone who's too nervous to sing."
Lily's stomach did flip-flops. She'd been practicing for weeks but was terrified to perform.
The cat's long hair shimmered. "One vitamin gives you courage for one hour. But true courage comes from inside—you just need help finding it sometimes."
Lily popped the glowing vitamin into her mouth. It tasted like sunshine and strawberries. Suddenly, she felt warm and brave, like she could fly.
"Thank you!" she hugged the cat. "But what if I'm still scared tomorrow?"
The cat purred. "Then remember: the vitamin only opened the door. You walked through it yourself."
The next day, Lily stood on stage, her palm sweating around the microphone. The vitamin had worn off, but something remained—a tiny spark of belief in her heart. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and sang.
Her voice rang out clear and beautiful, and when she finished, the audience erupted in applause. Lily spotted the orange cat sitting on a palm tree outside the auditorium window, nodding its approval.
That night, Lily left a bowl of cream under the palm tree. The vitamin had given her courage for one hour, but the friendship she found would last forever.
