The Palm Tree's Secret Pool
Lily loved running through her grandmother's backyard, especially on warm summer evenings. The old palm tree stood tall near the wooden fence, its fronds swishing in the breeze like friendly fingers waving hello.
One rainy afternoon, Lily noticed something strange. Tiny bolts of lightning danced around the palm tree's trunk, sparkling like magic dust. She crept closer, her heart beating faster with wonder.
The lightning wasn't scary at all—it was beautiful! It swirled and spun, forming a glowing circle on the ground. And then, right before her eyes, a small pool appeared. It wasn't a regular swimming pool like the one at the park. This one shimmered with colors that changed every second—blue like the ocean, green like emeralds, purple like grapes.
"Hello, little friend," said a tiny voice. Lily looked down and saw a small glowing creature sitting on a palm frond. "I'm Twist, the lightning keeper! This is our magic wishing pool."
Lily's eyes widened. "A wishing pool? Like in fairy tales?"
"Better!" Twist giggled. "You can wish for anything, but you must share it with someone else. That's the magic rule."
Lily thought hard. She could wish for toys, or candy, or adventures. But then she thought about her best friend Sam, who had been sad because his puppy ran away.
"I wish Sam's puppy comes home," Lily said softly.
The lightning swirled faster, the pool glowed brighter, and Twist nodded. "A wish from the heart is the strongest kind."
The next morning, Lily was running to Sam's house when she saw it—Sam's puppy, trotting down the street as if nothing had happened!
From that day on, Lily visited the palm tree often, but the magic pool only appeared when someone truly needed help. She learned that the best magic wasn't just about making wishes—it was about kindness, friendship, and thinking of others.
And sometimes, when the lightning bugs danced at dusk, Lily swore she could see Twist's lightning sparkling around the palm tree, reminding her that magic lives in every kind heart.
