The Palm Tree's Riddle Guest

Young Leo loved to spy on the magical creatures in his grandmother's garden. Every afternoon, he'd hide behind the big banana leaves and watch with wonder.

One day, he noticed something strange. The leaves of the old palm tree were shaking, but there was no wind! Being a curious spy, Leo climbed carefully up the trunk to investigate.

To his surprise, he found a tiny sphinx perched on the highest frond! The sphinx was only the size of a kitten, with golden fur and sparkling blue eyes. She looked worried.

"Hello?" Leo whispered.

The sphinx jumped! "Oh! A human! You're not afraid of me?"

"Why would I be?" Leo asked. "You're tiny!"

The sphinx sighed. "I'm the guardian of the magical water spring that flows beneath this tree. But I'm so hungry, I can't think of any riddles to protect it!"

Leo's eyes widened. "Magical water? That's amazing! What do sphinxes eat?"

The tiny creature blushed. "I know it sounds silly, but I love spinach. Fresh, crunchy spinach leaves. But I haven't found any in weeks."

Leo grinned. "Follow me!"

He led the sphinx to his grandmother's vegetable garden, where big green spinach leaves grew. The sphinx's eyes lit up. She munched happily, her golden fur glowing brighter with every bite.

"I'm Cleo," she said between bites. "And I can share the magical water with you now! One sip makes your imagination grow forever!"

Leo took a small sip from the spring she revealed. Suddenly, he could see invisible creatures dancing in the air! He could hear flowers singing!

"Thank you, Cleo," Leo said. "Now I have something wonderful to spy on every day!"

And from that day on, the little sphinx and the curious boy became the best of friends, guarding the magical water together and sharing spinach snacks every afternoon.
