The Palm Tree's Magical Pitch

Lila lived in a house with a crooked palm tree in the backyard. Every afternoon, she played catch with her golden retriever, Barnaby. But today something strange happened.

Lila tossed her baseball toward the tree. Instead of bouncing off the trunk, the ball sank right into the palm tree's bark!

"Barnaby, did you see that?" Lila gasped.

Barnaby barked and jumped up, catching something as it fell from the palm fronds. It wasn't the baseball—it was a small, shimmering pearl!

"That's amazing!" Lila cried. She reached up and tickled the palm tree. "More, please!"

The tree shook with what sounded like laughter. Suddenly, dozens of magical items rained down: glowing marbles, silver bells, and tiny stars.

Then the baseball floated up from the tree—but it wasn't a baseball anymore. It had transformed into a round, swimming fish that flapped through the air!

"Swimming through the sky!" Lila laughed. "That's the silliest thing I've ever seen!"

Barnaby chased the flying fish around the yard, his tail wagging furiously. The fish zoomed up, down, and around in loops.

"I know what this means," Lila said wisely. "The palm tree wants to play too!"

She placed her hand on the tree trunk. "Thank you for the magic. But you know what's even more fun than magic tricks? Playing with friends."

The swimming fish turned back into a regular baseball and dropped gently into Lila's glove.

From that day on, Lila, Barnaby, and the magical palm tree played the most wonderful games. Sometimes the baseball would turn into bubbles, sometimes into butterflies. But the best part was having three friends instead of two.

Lila learned that magic is wonderful, but sharing it with others makes it even better.
