The Palm Tree's Magic Wave
Leo sat under the swaying palm tree, watching his small orange goldfish swim circles in its bowl. The waves crashed nearby, and Leo felt very lonely. His family had moved to a new town, and he hadn't made any friends yet.
"I wish I had someone to play with," Leo whispered, resting his chin on his knees.
To his surprise, the palm tree seemed to shimmer. Its trunk twisted into a friendly face, and its fronds waved like arms.
"I've been watching you," said the palm tree in a voice like rustling leaves. "Would you like to see something magical?"
Leo's eyes widened. The palm tree sprinkled golden dust on the goldfish bowl. Suddenly, his goldfish—named Splash—grew tiny legs and hopped out!
"Hello!" Splash squeaked. "I've always wanted to play on the beach!"
Leo and Splash built sandcastles and chased seagulls. But then they saw something strange shambling toward them—a zombie! It was green and floppy, moving slowly with its arms out.
Leo grabbed Splash, ready to run. But the zombie stopped and looked at them with sad eyes.
"Please don't go," the zombie said softly. "I'm not scary. I'm just Zed, and I'm very lonely. Everyone runs away from me because of how I look."
Leo hesitated. He remembered how lonely he'd felt before moving here. "I know what that's like," he said. "I'm Leo, and this is Splash. Do you want to build sandcastles with us?"
Zed's face lit up. "Really?"
The three new friends spent the afternoon building the most magnificent sandcastle anyone had ever seen, with towers reaching toward the sky. Zed was gentle and careful, and he made them all laugh with his silly zombie dance.
As the sun began to set, the palm tree sprinkled more magic dust. Splash had to return to his bowl, and Zed promised to come back tomorrow.
"Thank you, Palm," Leo hugged the tree. "You gave me something better than magic—you taught me that friends come in all shapes and sizes."
The palm tree's fronds rustled happily. "Sometimes the best magic is just opening your heart."
That night, Leo fell asleep smiling, knowing tomorrow would bring another adventure with his new friends.
