The Palm Tree's Magic Pool
Lily loved summer more than anything. Every day, she ran to her backyard where the old palm tree stood tall and proud, its green leaves dancing in the warm breeze. But this palm tree was special — Lily had discovered its secret last week.
"Good morning, Mr. Palm!" she called, patting its rough trunk with her small hand. The tree seemed to wiggle its leaves in response.
Suddenly, a shiny baseball dropped from the palm fronds above. PLOP! It fell right into the magical swimming pool that appeared only when the tree was happy. The water sparkled like diamonds, glowing with soft blue light.
Lily's friend Mateo arrived just then, his swimsuit already on. "The tree's feeling playful today!" he laughed, diving into the water with a splash.
This was no ordinary swimming pool. When you swam in it, you could glide through the water as fast as a fish. Lily and Mateo played the most wonderful game — swimming baseball! They'd dive deep to catch the magical baseballs that the palm tree dropped, then zoom through the water to tag the imaginary bases.
"I got it!" Lily shouted, grabbing a floating baseball with her palm. She kicked her legs and zoomed toward the other end of the pool. "Touchdown!"
"That's baseball, silly!" Mateo giggled. "You're supposed to tag home plate, not score a touchdown!"
The palm tree dropped three more baseballs at once, and the children laughed as they raced to collect them all. They played for hours, never getting tired, because the magical water made them feel light as feathers.
As the sun began to set, the palm tree stopped dropping baseballs. Its leaves drooped slightly, telling them it was time to rest.
"Thanks, Mr. Palm!" Lily called, giving the tree one last pat. "That was the best game ever."
"Tomorrow?" Mateo asked, drying off with a fluffy towel.
"Tomorrow!" Lily promised.
As they walked inside for dinner, Lily looked back at the palm tree. The magical pool was already fading, disappearing like a sweet dream. But she knew it would return tomorrow, because true magic — like friendship — never really goes away.
And somewhere in those palm fronds, a tiny baseball waited, ready for another day of wonder and fun.
