The Palm Tree's Lightning Gift

Lily lived on a tiny island where the ocean kissed the sand every morning. She had three great loves: the sunrise, her spotted dog named Peppy, and the ancient palm tree that stood alone at the edge of her yard. Its leaves whispered secrets in the wind.

One evening, a terrible storm rolled in. The sky turned purple, and rain pounded against Lily's roof. Peppy, frightened by the thunder, bolted out the open door and vanished into the dark.

"Peppy!" Lily cried, grabbing her yellow raincoat. She searched everywhere—behind the house, under the porch, down by the beach. But Peppy was gone.

Suddenly, a brilliant bolt of lightning split the sky. It struck the old palm tree with a flash so bright it turned night into day. Lily gasped, expecting the tree to catch fire.

But something magical happened instead. The palm tree began to glow from within, its trunk shimmering with golden light. In its branches, small fruits appeared—each one pulsed with the captured light of the lightning bolt.

The tree's leaves whispered: *Take one, little one. It will show the way.*

Lily plucked a glowing fruit. It warmed her palm like a tiny sun. As she held it, the fruit cast a beam of light across the sand, leaving a trail of sparkling footsteps.

She followed the light into the dense jungle, over creeks and under giant ferns. Finally, in a small cave, she found Peppy—shivering and scared.

"Peppy!" Lily wrapped her arms around her dog. The glowing fruit in her palm pulsed brighter, lighting their way home.

From that day on, the palm tree would catch lightning during every storm. It never harmed the tree—only filled it with more magical fruit to help anyone who was lost. Lily and Peppy became known as the island's guardians, guiding others home with the palm tree's gifts.

And sometimes, if you visit during a storm, you might still see that old palm tree glowing, its leaves whispering: *True friends always find their way back to each other.*
