The Palm-Tree Courage Vitamins

Leo couldn't hit the baseball. Not even once. Every time he swung the bat, he missed. Other kids laughed, and Leo felt like shrinking into the ground.

That evening, Leo sat on his back porch, crying into his open palm. His grandfather came outside and sat beside him. "What's wrong, little lion?" Grandpa asked.

"I'm not good at anything," Leo sniffled. "I can't play baseball. I can't do anything special."

Grandpa smiled mysteriously. "Come with me. I want to show you something."

They walked to the far edge of the yard, where an enormous palm tree stood. But this wasn't an ordinary palm tree. Hanging from its fronds weren't coconuts—they were hundreds of tiny baseballs!

"This is the Courage Palm," Grandpa whispered. "It grows courage vitamins for children who need them."

"Baseballs are vitamins?" Leo asked, wiping his eyes.

"Not ordinary baseballs. These are magical. Each one holds a different kind of courage. There's courage for trying new things, courage for making friends, courage for standing up for others, and courage for believing in yourself."

Grandpa plucked a glowing baseball from the tree and placed it in Leo's palm. "This one's for you. But you must use it wisely. Whenever you feel afraid, hold this baseball and remember: courage isn't about not being scared. Courage is about being scared and doing it anyway."

The next day, Leo stepped up to home plate. His palm tingled with the magical baseball hidden in his pocket. He could feel its courage flowing through him.

The pitcher threw the ball. Leo's heart pounded, but he didn't run away. He swung—and hit! The ball sailed through the air.

But something even more amazing happened. As soon as Leo hit the baseball, it POOFED into hundreds of tiny sparkles that landed on all the other kids. Suddenly, everyone started cheering—even the kids who had laughed before.

Leo realized then that the real magic wasn't in the baseball at all. The real magic had been inside him all along. The palm-tree vitamin had simply helped him see it.

That night, Leo planted his magical baseball in the ground. A tiny palm tree sprouted immediately, glowing softly. Now whenever any child in the neighborhood felt scared or not good enough, they could visit Leo's tree and find their own courage vitamin.

Because every child deserves to know that they're magical just the way they are.
