The Palm of Starlight Dreams
Leo loved running more than anything. Every morning, he would race the sun to school, his sneakers slapping the pavement in a happy rhythm. But his friend Mia was too scared to join the track team, even though she could run like the wind.
One afternoon, while running through his grandmother's garden, Leo discovered something magical. Behind the old shed stood a palm tree that shimmered like stardust. Its trunk glowed with tiny golden lights, and hanging from its fronds were not coconuts—but glowing fruits that pulsed like little hearts.
"Star vitamins," his grandmother whispered, appearing beside him. "They grow only when someone needs courage most. Each one holds a dream waiting to bloom."
Leo picked three warm, glowing fruits. They hummed in his palm like sleeping kittens. That evening, he found Mia sitting on her front porch, watching the track team practice through tear-filled eyes.
"Close your eyes," Leo told her, pressing a glowing fruit into her hand. "Make a wish. Then swallow it like a brave pill."
Mia giggled but did as he said. The fruit tasted like sunshine and strawberry dreams. Suddenly, her feet began to tingle. She stood up and started running—so fast she left sparkles in her wake. Leo ran beside her, laughing, as they raced through the neighborhood faster than they'd ever run before.
The next day, Mia joined the track team. And though the magic fruit's power faded by sunset, something stronger remained. Mia realized the real vitamin hadn't been the fruit at all—it was believing she could.
Now every morning, Leo and Mia run together, palm to palm in friendship before each race, knowing the bravest dreams are the ones we chase together.
