The Palm of Magic
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house, especially the garden behind it. In the center grew a magnificent palm tree, its leaves dancing in the breeze like green fingers waving hello.
One hot afternoon, Lily discovered something wonderful near the palm tree—a crystal-clear pool no bigger than a bathtub, shimmering with rainbow colors. When she peered into its depths, she saw not just her reflection, but whole worlds spinning like tiny galaxies.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" said a deep, gentle voice.
Lily jumped! Behind the palm tree stood the biggest, kindest bull she had ever seen. His coat was golden brown, and his horns were decorated with tiny sparkling stars.
"I'm Barnaby," the bull said with a smile. "I'm the guardian of the Wishing Pool."
Lily's eyes widened. "It grants wishes?"
"Only one wish per child," Barnaby explained. "And only wishes made with a pure heart."
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for endless candy, or a castle, or a flying pony. But then she looked at Barnaby and noticed he seemed lonely.
"I wish," Lily said, "that you could have a friend to keep you company forever."
The pool blazed with brilliant light! When it faded, a little calf appeared beside Barnaby—her coat the same golden brown, with tiny stars on her horns.
"Thank you," Barnaby whispered, tears in his gentle eyes. "You've given me the greatest gift."
Lily learned that day that the best wishes are the ones we make for others. And whenever she returned, she'd find Barnaby and his little friend resting beneath the palm tree, their reflections glowing together in the magical pool.
