The Palm of Dreams
Lila loved to sit beneath the ancient palm tree in her grandmother's garden. Its leaves whispered secrets in the wind, and Lila would press her own small palm against the rough bark, pretending she could feel the tree's heartbeat.
One afternoon, while playing with her mother's old iphone that she used for games, Lila noticed something strange. The screen shimmered like water, and suddenly, a golden pyramid appeared right there in the garden! It glowed with warm amber light, as if it had been waiting just for her.
"Hello?" Lila called out, stepping closer. Her curly hair bounced with each step.
A tiny door opened in the pyramid's side, and out popped the smallest person Lila had ever seen — no bigger than her thumb! The creature had sparkly blue hair that floated around her head like seaweed.
"I'm Pip!" the tiny person announced. "Welcome to the Pyramid of Wishes!"
Lila's eyes widened. "You grant wishes?"
"Only special ones," Pip said, bouncing on Lila's palm. "Wishes that help others. What's in your heart?"
Lila thought about her grandmother, who missed her home across the ocean. "I wish my grandmother could see her favorite palm tree from her old village again."
Pip's blue hair glowed brighter. "A wish full of love!" She clapped her tiny hands, and the iphone screen showed a magical image — a grandmother's face lighting up with joy as she saw the very same kind of palm tree, growing right outside her window on the other side of the world.
"Thank you!" Lila whispered.
"Remember," Pip said as the pyramid began to fade, "the best wishes are the ones we make come true for each other."
That night, Lila planted a palm seed in her garden. Some day, she knew, it would grow tall and strong. And every time she pressed her palm against its bark, she would remember: magic isn't about what you wish for yourself, but about the love you share with others.
