The Padel Pyramid's Sleeping Friend
Mia and Leo loved playing padel after school. The racquet-ball game was their favorite - *thwack, thwack, thwack* went the ball as they hit it back and forth across the net.
One afternoon, the ball bounced over the fence and rolled into the woods behind their school.
"I'll get it!" Mia called.
She followed the ball deeper into the forest until the trees suddenly parted. There, rising from the mossy ground, stood a small golden pyramid. It glowed with soft purple light.
"Wow," Leo breathed, appearing beside her.
The padel ball rested at the pyramid's base. Mia reached for it, but as her fingers touched the ball, the pyramid's front door swung open.
Inside, the walls sparkled with hieroglyphs that moved and danced. In the center of a circular room stood a strange figure - gray and still, with greenish skin and stiff, outstretched arms. It looked like...
"A zombie!" Leo gasped.
"No," whispered a voice from the figure. "Not a zombie. A zonbie. I'm from the Zone of Wonder. I've been sleeping for a thousand years."
The zonbie's name was Zalumba. He explained that an ancient king had cast a sleep spell on him for being too serious and not knowing how to play.
"Only friends who play together with joy can wake me," Zalumba said sadly.
Mia and Leo looked at each other and smiled.
"We know about joy!" Mia said.
"We know about playing!" Leo added.
They set up a mini padel court right there in the pyramid. *Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!* The sound of their racquet hitting the ball echoed off the golden walls. Zalumba watched, his gray face slowly lighting up.
"Teach me!" the zonbie begged.
They showed him how to hold a racquet, how to swing, how to laugh when the ball went wild. With every hit, Zalumba's skin grew pinker. His stiff arms loosened. His eyes began to sparkle.
Finally, Mia hit a perfect shot. Zalumba jumped to return it - and the spell broke!
The zonbie who had become their friend danced around the pyramid, now fully alive and colorful.
"You saved me with friendship and fun!" Zalumba cheered. "That's the real magic."
From that day on, the padel pyramid became their secret place, where they learned that playing together could wake even the oldest dreams.
