The Padel Court Mystery

Lily, Max, and Sophie loved playing padel at the old court behind the library. It was their favorite spot, especially on sunny Saturday mornings.

One day, Sophie noticed something strange. A rusty cable dangled from the ancient oak tree near the court.

"What's that?" asked Lily, squinting.

Max grabbed his binoculars. "I spy something mysterious!" he whispered. "Let's be spies and investigate!"

The three friends crept toward the tree. The cable led to a hidden door in the trunk! Inside, they found a glowing cave with sparkly purple crystals.

Suddenly, a slow-moving figure emerged from the shadows. It had green skin, messy hair, and groaned, "BRAINZZ... just kidding. I mean, FRIENDS?"

Sophie gasped. "Is that a zombie?"

The creature nodded sadly. "I'm Zed. Everyone runs away because I look scary. But I'm just lonely. I've been sleeping in this cave for 100 years."

Lily stepped forward bravely. "You don't scare us! We're spies, and spies aren't afraid of anything."

Zed's face lit up. "Really? Will you play padel with me?"

"You know padel?" Max asked, amazed.

"I invented it!" Zed chuckled. "Back in 1920, we called it 'court ball.'"

They spent the afternoon playing padel together. Zed wasn't very good at first, but he learned quickly. When the sun began to set, Zed handed them each a sparkling crystal.

"These are friendship stones," he said. "Whenever you feel lonely, hold them, and I'll come play."

The three friends walked home, their hearts full of wonder. They had discovered that things aren't always what they seem, and that friendship can be found in the most unexpected places.

And every Saturday, you could still see them at the padel court, laughing and playing with their new best friend—who just happened to be a zombie.
