The Padel Court Confidential

Maya's sneakers squeaked against the court as she sprinted toward the flying ball, her heart pounding in rhythm with her footsteps. **Running** to reach it, she swung her padel racket and—WHAM. Perfect shot.

"Nice one, new girl," said Jake, the tournament's golden boy. Maya felt her face heat up. She'd moved to town three weeks ago, and this padel camp was her chance to finally fit in. But between you and me, fitting in when everyone else had known each other since kindergarten? Mission impossible.

During break, Maya sat near the fountain, sipping **water** from her bottle and pretending to scroll through her phone. Actually, she was totally **spying** on Jake's squad. They sat in their usual spot by the fence, laughing at something on Devin's phone.

"They're talking about you," said a voice behind her. Chloe. The girl who'd been benched yesterday after going full rage mode on the referee. "Jake thinks you're lowkey fire at padel."

Maya almost choked on her water. "Wait, really?"

"But," Chloe continued, twisting her bracelet, "you gotta watch out for The **Bull**."

Maya's eyes widened. "Is that... a person?"

Chloe laughed. "Coach Martinez. Total beast. He's coaching the finals tomorrow. If you mess up, he'll destroy your confidence. Ask anyone."

That night, Maya couldn't sleep. She kept replaying Chloe's warning. But then she thought about something else: she'd been so focused on impressing Jake and his squad that she hadn't even thought about what SHE wanted.

Next morning, The Bull stood courtside during practice, arms crossed, face like thunder. Maya's hands shook. But then she remembered why she'd started playing padel in the first place—because it made HER feel alive, not because she wanted Jake's approval.

She served. The ball arced perfectly. Game point.

"Not bad," Coach Martinez nodded. "Not bad at all."

Maya grinned. Who knew? Maybe fitting in wasn't about running after anyone's approval. Maybe it was about owning your game.
