The Orange Zombie's Midnight Run
Lily loved Halloween, but she loved her garden more. Every autumn, she planted special pumpkin seeds that grew into the brightest orange pumpkins in the whole neighborhood.
One magical night, Lily woke to a strange sound. Squeak. Shuffle. SQUEAK.
She peeked out her window and gasped. There, in her pumpkin patch, was the most unusual sight. A little zombie made entirely of vegetables! Its head was a bright orange pumpkin, its body was made of celery sticks, and carrot legs poked out from its leafy shirt.
But this wasn't a scary zombie. It was running! Running in circles around the garden, chasing fireflies that danced like tiny stars.
"Wait!" Lily whispered, slipping outside in her pajamas. "Where are you running to?"
The pumpkin zombie stopped. From its orange head, a tiny voice squeaked, "The Moon Festival! Tonight, when the moon is fullest, all the garden magic comes alive! We run to the meadow to dance with the moonbeams!"
Lily's eyes widened. "Can I come too?"
The zombie's celery arms waved excitedly. "Only if you can keep up! Running is the best part!"
And so Lily spent the most magical night of her life running through fields of dancing fireflies, spinning under the full moon with vegetable friends, and learning that sometimes the most wonderful adventures happen when you're brave enough to say hello to something unusual.
By morning, her pumpkin zombie was back in the garden, still as stone. But Lily knew the truth — sometimes magic hides in the most unexpected places, and the best friends are the ones who will go running with you into the unknown.
