The Orange Who Wanted to Swim

Lily was lonely. Every day after school, she'd sit by herself at the park watching other children play. One sunny afternoon, something caught her eye near the garden patch — an orange rolling toward her!

"Hello there!" said the orange.

Lily rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"

"Of course! I've been waiting for someone to notice me," the orange said with a cheerful wiggle. "I'm Clementine. What's your name?"

"I'm Lily."

"Lily, would you be my friend? I have a secret to share."

Lily's heart skipped a beat. She'd never had a friend before. "Yes!"

Clementine glowed golden. "Close your eyes and hold me tight. Think of swimming!"

Suddenly, Lily felt cool water surrounding her. She opened her eyes and gasped. They weren't just swimming — they were floating through a magical underwater kingdom! Fish made of rainbow light swam beside them. Seaweed waved like ribbons in a parade.

"Welcome to the Ocean of Dreams!" Clementine bubbled with joy. "Only friends who believe in magic can find this place."

Lily laughed, spinning in the water. "This is amazing!"

They swam with crystal turtles and raced silver dolphins. Clementine showed Lily secret caves filled with singing pearls and gardens where flowers bloomed in every color imaginable.

"Why me?" Lily asked quietly. "Why did you choose me?"

Clementine softened. "Because you needed a friend, and magic always finds lonely hearts. The real magic isn't this place — it's friendship."

Lily hugged Clementine tight. "Thank you for being my friend."

When they returned to the park, Clementine was just an ordinary orange again. But Lily knew better. She took Clementine home, and every day when she felt lonely, she'd hold the orange close, close her eyes, and visit her magical friend.

And the best part? Now Lily wasn't afraid to talk to other children. Because Clementine had taught her that the best magic of all is opening your heart to friendship.
