The Orange Water Magic

Lily loved spending summer days by the sparkling blue lake. She would sit on the dock, dipping her toes in the cool water, watching the dragonflies dance above the ripples. But Lily had a secret - she was afraid to swim. Her friends splashed and played in the water, but she stayed on the shore, her hair braided tightly like a crown of worry around her head.

One sunny morning, an old woman with silver hair appeared by the lake. She carried a basket filled with the brightest oranges Lily had ever seen. "These are courage oranges," the woman said with a wink. "Each one holds a special vitamin - not for your body, but for your brave heart."

Lily's eyes widened. The woman handed her an orange that glowed like a tiny sun. "When you eat this, something magical will happen. But the real magic comes from inside you."

Lily peeled the orange and tasted its sweet juice. Suddenly, she felt lighter, as if gravity had forgotten her. Her hair loosened from its tight braid and flowed freely in the breeze, shining like golden wheat in a field.

To her amazement, when Lily stepped into the water, she didn't sink. She floated! Her arms became strong fins, her legs powerful paddles. She was swimming! The water cradled her like an old friend, carrying her across the lake's surface.

But as Lily swam deeper, she saw something sad. A little fish was trapped in a tangle of old fishing line, its orange scales flashing helplessly. Lily remembered the old woman's words about magic coming from inside. She had a choice - keep enjoying her new swimming powers, or use them to help someone in need.

With steady strokes, Lily swam to the trapped fish. She carefully pulled away the fishing line, her fingers working gently. The fish darted free, leaving a trail of bubbles like tiny thank-you notes.

When Lily returned to shore, the old woman was waiting. "You passed the real test," she said. "The orange showed you how to swim, but YOU chose to be kind. That's the bravest magic of all."

That summer, Lily taught all her friends how to swim. She never needed another magic orange again, because she had discovered something even more powerful - the courage to try, the strength to help others, and the joy of sharing new adventures with friends.
