The Orange Vitamin's Magic

Lily hated vitamins. Every morning, her mom would hand her a small white pill that tasted like chalky nothing.

But today was different. Today, Lily's mom held out a bright orange tablet. "This one's special," she said with a wink.

Lily wrinkled her nose but swallowed it. Nothing happened—at least, not right away.

That afternoon, Lily went **swimming** in her grandmother's pool. She loved how the water wrapped around her like a cool, watery hug.

As she swam deeper, something strange happened. Her long brown **hair** began to shimmer. Not just wet hair shimmer—it glowed like someone had sprinkled tiny stars in each strand. Orange lights danced through the waves she created.

"Whoa!" Lily stopped swimming and looked at her reflection in the pool's glass wall. Her hair was still glowing softly, underwater constellation patterns swirling around her head.

Grandmother appeared at the pool's edge, her eyes twinkling. "The **orange** one," she said knowingly. "I knew you'd discover its secret someday."

Lily's grandmother sat beside the pool. "Long ago," she began, "mermaids lived in this very spot. They loved sharing their magic with children who believed in wonder. The orange **vitamin** was their gift—a tiny piece of sunshine and sea magic mixed together."

Lily swam closer. Her hair still glowed, creating orange ripples around her. "Does it last forever?"

"As long as you use it for kindness," Grandmother said. "Magic that comes from sharing grows bigger. Magic kept for yourself fades away."

Lily thought of her friend Marcus, who was afraid of swimming. Tomorrow, she'd bring him here and show him her glowing hair. Maybe the orange light would help him feel brave.

"Every morning," Grandmother continued, "the orange vitamin will help you remember: small things can hold big magic. Even something as simple as taking care of yourself can become an adventure."

That night, Lily couldn't stop touching her hair, still tingling with underwater memories. She fell asleep dreaming of mermaids and orange lights dancing through deep blue water.

And the next morning, when her mom handed her the orange vitamin, Lily didn't wrinkle her nose. She smiled, swallowed it, and wondered what other magic might be waiting—just one small moment of bravery away.
